The Speeders are a
premier component of the FCSC Academy program. The
team is coached by Bryan Black and managed by Bryan Mayer. Practices
are conducted in the academy style at the Warrenton Fields complex
(Athey) on Monday and Wednesday evenings.
Coach Black has over 12 years player experience
at various levels including semi-professional play and seven years
coaching experience in the recreational, middle school, and travel
environments. He currently holds a “D” license and
believes in stressing skills and technique in the youth program.
Coach Black’s philosophy is to equip the players with skills
and techniques at an early age so they will have a solid foundation
from which to grow and he feels that positive re-enforcement and
careful criticism are key factors in young players’ development.
The FCSC Academy Travel Program encompasses technical,
tactical, physical and psychological aspects of the game that
are specific to each stage and each age group and that ensure
adequate player development and progress over the entire course
of the program. Each category has its own guidelines that detail;
philosophy, team goals, number of practices a week, number of
tournaments, and winter/summer training requirements. More information
regarding the academy structured travel program is available on
the FCSC
website. |
